Honeymoon BEFORE wedding?

My fiance and I love fall and our wedding is November 8th of this year. We're on a budget and can't afford to go anywhere far for the wedding. We're thinking about going to Gatlinburg, TN/ Great Smoky Mountains for a few days and enjoy the fall foliage. After doing some research I found out the peak for fall colors in in mid to late October. Will November be too late? If so, we thinking about going BEFORE the wedding. Is that weird?
