Could this be a heart attack?

My partner has had pains in his chest since last night, they kept him up most of the night. He also had pains going through his legs although this has subsided now. Today the chest pains are getting stronger, and its travelling to his back, mostly between his shoulder blades. He feels sick, is cold, clammy and has a "strange" feeling through his body ("strange" is the only way he can describe it) he is shivering uncontrollably and feels short of breath, his skin is very pale looking and gw feels drained and tired. Could this be something serious as hes reluctant as usual to see a doctor?
