What defines existence. Do humans have to be able to percept an object or concept in order for it to exist? How can we say anything is preexisting or discovered?

Is it "bad" if my 19 month old goes to bed with a bottle full of just water?

I know that a milk bottle is awful for bedtime because it rots their teeth... but is it terribly wrong for my 19 month old to go to sleep with a bottle full of just water? I know in a perfect world, she would be able to lull herself to sleep on her own, but she has always had sleep troubles. So I am wondering if maybe I could continue this until she was old enough for me to explain it to her... maybe when she transitions to a big girl bed. We have tried to take it away and she cries hysterically. I would hate for her to go through so much trauma for a habit that I feel is my fault, not hers (I used to nurse her to sleep... I'm a first time mom and didn't know this wasn't a good idea!) She ONLY has her bottle at bedtimes and has no problem drinking from sippy cups. How exactly does the duct tape method for wart removal work?

The best method for using the duct tape is to keep the same piece of tape over the wart for five straight days. Baby almost here?

I'm very nervious that something might go wrong, this is my forth pregnancy, but i lost all four babys. I had twin boys at 28 weeks they died after birth, I also had two miscarrages. So no wonder why im a nervious reck. I have scudule c-section about a week and 3 days I cant wait to see my baby. But i dont want to get too excited because something might go wrong. what can I do to control my anxiety? and what will the c-section be like? when i had one for my twins it was emergency so it was caotic.I want to hold on my son after birth, is this possible?

3 days old: He will only sleep in my arms?

My daughter was the same way for the first two weeks. The day she was born I could put her in the hospital binet but after that she only slept on my chest for a while. It's because he was inside of you for 9 months listening to your heartbeat so being in your arms is where he feels safe. He will grow out of it but just give it time and enjoy the cuddles for now.

Negligent landlord causes water damage?

I am renting a room at a house. Our washing machine broke and my landlord had his staff install a new washing machine. The laundry room is directly above my room. When they installed the washer I was out of town for the weekend. I came home to find that my bed was soaked and down comforter was stained yellow from water stains. I was able to get my landlords daughter to come over and she called her dad (my landlord) to let him know about the damages. The water leak happened because when they were installing the washer they broke a pipe and water flooded my room and the bathroom next to my room. I could hear him talking on the phone to her and he said to give me some money to do my sheets and blankets. They both apologized for any inconvenience that it caused to me. She also replaced the ceiling tiles that were ruined and the maintenance brought in a shop vac and vacuumed my room. A couple of days later, the water that had been in my room began attracting bugs. I emailed my landlord and let him know and he said they would be there the next day to fix the problem. When I got home from work that day, I find that their idea of fixing the problem was sticking a can of raid for me to spray myself to get rid of the bugs. Fast forward a month later and I am at work. My boyfriend was watching a movie in my room and he heard the noise of water. So he got up and moved just in time to have gallons and gallons of water coming through my ceiling. This time it did quite a bit a damage. My laptop, bed, shoes, and multiple other things were ruined. The damages total to almost $1000. We got pictures and there is at least an inch of water in my room. My boyfriend called and left a message with my landlord, and was able to talk to one of my other roommates who was able to get in contact with my landlords daughter. The maintenance staff came over shortly after that to ess the damage. The problem that happened this time was that the pipe came undone. (They fixed it though and said it will not happen again-they fixed it by screwing the pipe that the water goes through into wall with four screws)The staff opened up an empty room for me to temporarily stay in. I got off of work a couple of hours early to go home. I called my landlords daughter who said she would be there in 2 hours to see what was going on. Six hours later she decides to show up and tells me the reason we cant get a hold of her dad is because he has been on vacation for almost a month in Florida. She has no clue when he will be returning and she cannot make any formal decisions. She also tells me that she did speak with her father and that he was just wondering if I had renters insurance. She also tries accusing my boyfriend and I with tampering with the pipe on the washing machine. I emailed my landlord the day this flood occurred and left multiple messages (the daughter told me he will get the messages, because his business phone gets forwarded to his cell phone). My landlord never called me back and finally emailed me back the next day at noon. He told me he had gone above and beyond his duties of helping me and he didn't even need to put me in another room. He told me to claim this on my insurance as it states in the lease that he has no responsibility to this. I replied back to him asking where it stated that he had no responsibility and he had somebody highlight the clause in the lease and put it under my door. It stated this:Possession. The lessee agrees to hold the lessor blameless if the lessor is unable to deliver or maintain possession for lessee due to cirstances beyond the lessors control. Cirstances may include, but are not limited to, natural disasters, acts of god, fire, criminal and civil offenses committed by others, sheriff sale, and hold over by lessees who have not been granted such rights by the lessors direct agreement in writing. I feel that this was caused by his negligence. I have asked that he pay for the damages. So my question is, do you think that landlord should be held liable and be responsible for paying for my damaged personal belongings. Besides just this incident there is multiple others-the main one including the air conditioning. This was included in my rent (I pay my rent quarterly since I am a college student and all utilities are included) and I have been asking that they turn it on since the end of May. They have told me that it is broke, then in July their staff comes and paints the house. When they are in the house they turn the air conditioning on (magically it is not broke anymore) and when they finished painting they turned it off again. I began calling my landlords daughter (since she is the only one that will return my phone calls) and she tells me that it is broke again. She keeps telling me somebody will be out to fix it. Could I Be Pregnant or Just Getting My Period?

my husband and I just started trying for our second child last month. I started charting months ago so I would have a better idea of my cycle. I ovulated on Sept 18 (Our Anniversary:)) My period was due to start around today. I have had slight cramping but not my usual horrible cramps that keep me awake. I have had some slight pinkish brown spotting, only noticeable when I go to the restroom. I have been nauseous all week with a decreased appetite. I started breaking out on my face and chest which is not normal for me during my monthly. I have been so exhausted (although I do have a toddler), my have been really sensitive as well. I have taken a HTP and got a negative? Could I still be pregnant and just haven't missed my period yet or is it more likely that I am getting my period? Evil bio, Dad... what do I do?

My fiance's son's biological father is a real knob. He looks for conflict wherever he can find it. If not, he'll create it. We try not to get sucked into his game but he's so good at being a jerk, it's difficult. Before I came along he didn't want anything to do with his son unless my fiance would get back with him... (can you believe this???) I come along two years ago and he was nothing but belligerent. It wasn't until we decided we wanted to move out of state for career reasons that he decided to contest. He pays minimal support and takes little initiative as a parent, but just enough for the court to side with him. We couldn't move... and he makes life here awful. Despite our good will gestures, he only feigns to return them. I'm told all we can do is deal with it. Is there anything at all we can do? I feel like a full-time parent with no rights. He's an "at-will" parent with all the rights. Getting married soon and having a baby. Still feel like I have no say with my own family.

HELP! My grandma needs a lung! HELP!?

My grandma was diagnosed with a severe case of lung cancer about 2 or 3 years ago several years after her husband he had died of pancreatic cancer. Luckily, they caught it at an early stage and removed the small tumor from the top of her lung. On top of the cancer she has been suffering from emphysema for many years from smoking earlier in her life. She walks around with an air tank at ALL times, she CANNOT go with out. On rare occasions when she does shes either sitting or in a wheel chair, but again those are rare occasions. She can walk about 20 to 30 ft and then she can't breath and becomes anxiety ridden and has to stop for about 10min to catch her breath and calm down. With the cancer came Keomo therapy, as expected but it tore apart her muscles making her even more weak than she already was. My whole existence I can remember her always having breathing problems but NEVER this bad. At this point there is nothing me or my family can do (which to mention we have family problems that contribute to her anxiety and lack of help from other family members) and it pains me to watch her suffer. She's only 66 but according to her doctor she's too old to have an immediate lung transplant and needs to be cancer free for 5 years before even being considered on a list. She has the money to go to do whatever shes needs to get this lung, but she has become so hopelss and stressed, she just doesn't have the fight in her. I am desperate and willing to do absolutely ANYTHING to help her, she is an amazing women that has lived an amazing life and deserves more than what she's getting right now. She wants to travel and to garden, she wants to walk up stairs or go on a walk on a beautiful day. To be completely honest I don't think my grandmother can physically or mentally take this for another 5 years, only to be told she has to wait an x amount of time for a lung. I'm wondering if there is anything/anybody I can talk to.. anything I can do to get her a lung!!!!!!

I currently live in Southern Arizona and as much as people refer to it as the desert, I can tell you there are hundreds and hundreds of square miles of desert, high desert, and forest lands that look exactly like they looked hundreds of years ago. although I don't have a lot of in depth experience in travel through New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Montana and Texas, I can attest to the fact that all these states have some very rural unchanged landscape dating back a couple of centuries.. My partner has had pains in his chest since last night, they kept him up most of the night. He also had pains going through his legs although this has subsided now. Do some research on struvite or oxalate stones in dogs. You will have to change his diet so that the pH of his urine is changed. There is no one diet that is good for all dogs so you need to know what you are doing with whatever you decide to feed. Joining K9Kitchen, a yahoo group would probably be a very good place to get help with his diet. Unfortunately, vets aren't usually that schooled in special diets and rely on prescription diets that although they are properly formulated are quite unpalatable for most dogs. So for the past week I have been going swimming every other day and being the knucklehead that I am, forgot to wear sunscreen. I have the most unattractive and weird tan right now. I usually don't tan, I just burn but I guess this summer is different. It's very unappealing though. I have an event in exactly 2 weeks and I was wondering if I stayed inside that entire time, in dark rooms preferbarly, will my tan pale down?? Is there any way to help it pale down? Try to download a different copy of the same songs your having problems with and see if it makes any difference. If it persists you may have to adjust the configuration or settings of the program as that might be the root of the problem. If all else fails, try uninstalling the program, restart the computer and then reinstall it. A fresh program install will eliminate many variables.

This is my experience....NOTHING is as painful as the top of your ear....I swear that thing hurt for 6 months....As for your nose...go to a piercing shop, it's only about $30 and they use a needle. I had problems because the nose "screw" bend was between my skin and was having a hard time healing, but after about 17 days, I finally took it out and you would never know I had it done.....I will redo it, it just didn't work out right the first time. P.S. My sister had hers done the next day at the same place with the straight stud (which they don't like to do) but it healed fine and looks really cute still today.....good luck....it's quick & almost painless...

I had a really bad accident last year during barrel racing. I barrelraced once more after that but I was so scared that I could barely lope the pattern. So here is the story..The day started out good with all the original contesting cles..then in barrels my first turn was good then my second turn, my horse(that is now my show jumper) took off bucking. Luckly I stayed on. Then my second horse had an amazing run but on the way home she would not stop and we fliped over the fence. Landing on top of me..I went unconcious and woke up in the hospital. The normal ROM with ACL tear?

what is the normal range of motion pre op for an acl tear? We don't know if this is my acl or not, but i can bend my leg some. can BARLY get it to 90 degrees with out tons of pain. Don't really have that looseness feeling, although i did when it first happened, heard a REALLY loud pop followed by a smaller one. extreme pain afterwards and immedate swelling. does this sound like an acl tear? We're waiting on MRI results. or is this maybe an MCL tear? or meniscus?

R&P: Question for those of you that might have knowledge for this guitar problem?

It is hard to tell from the pictures, but they look almost exactly the same size with the same cutouts to fit the pickup, knobs, bridge, etc. Pickguards for Fenders are usually just plastic anyway, so if something needs to be shaved down a little it shouldn't be that difficult to customize. I don't know what the gold annodize is from if that is just paint or something else. I would order it, and if it doesn't fit, just send it back for a refund or exchange. Might want to consider more how your guitar sounds and less how it looks though.

He is about 9" from the tip of his nose to his rump and curled up in a fetal position at the bottom of my garbage can.He is barely responsive but will look up when I shake the can . I need help choosing between two colleges?

I really like two colleges that I've looked at Fordham University and College of New Jersey. They're both great schools and are just what I was looking for in a college. Fordham is a Roman Catholic college, and I am Catholic, so that's great. Even tough College of New Jersey isn't a Catholic college, it's in the suburbs rather than New York city; so it's a safer area and campus. The best thing about College of New Jersey is that my two best friends are going to Princeton University, so they'll only be twenty minutes away from me by car. I got accepted to both of these schools, and I need a second opinion?

Another individual recently got me in to trouble with law enforcement. I have and have stated to acquaintances that I have no feelings of anger towards her, and simply wish to be left alone. However, I recently walked in to a building this individual was in, and they proceeded to get law enforcement contacted by claiming to others that I was planning on harming them. I have not dug deeper yet, but I have heard they claimed that I was intending to shoot them. Now, nothing could be further from the truth. I am contemplating filing a lawsuit on the grounds of defamation. USAF PCS Question!! Please help!?

Ok...my husband is on a one year remote to South Korea, unaccompanied. He has follow-on orders to Guam. He will be done in Korea in November 2010 and our NLT for Guam is 19 December 2010. We have the date but not the actual orders yet. The AF people in Korea are telling us that as soon as the orders are cut I can move our stuff and me to Guam and then he can meet me there after Korea. The AF people here are telling me that as soon as the orders are cut I can ship our stuff but the soonest I can actually go is 1 December 2010. Does anyone know anything about this or who is right?

It would be a miserable world few would want to live in if we all went around taking what we wanted by force and killing people we disagree with. You can't expect others to refrain from treating you in ways you would not like if you treat others in a bad manner. You can't for example steal from your neighbor and expect they won't turn around and steal from you back or exact some revenge. A social contract that follows from the idea we must be willing to treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated can be nontheistically derived. Many cultures and different religions have their own version of this indicating it has ocurred as something beneficial to human across cultures. If you want your life to be worth someone going out of their way for than you have to expect that you will need to return the favor. I believe societies evolved because they offered us an evolutionary advantage over a law of the jungle approach to life. By banding together and creating structure that benefits all including the old, poor, weak, and different we discovered we achieved more and had more stablity and advantages.

Honeymoon BEFORE wedding?

My fiance and I love fall and our wedding is November 8th of this year. We're on a budget and can't afford to go anywhere far for the wedding. We're thinking about going to Gatlinburg, TN/ Great Smoky Mountains for a few days and enjoy the fall foliage. After doing some research I found out the peak for fall colors in in mid to late October. Will November be too late? If so, we thinking about going BEFORE the wedding. Is that weird?

Rollerblading and overweight?

I am almost 20 and when i was younger I used to love to roller blade, and I was good, but I haven't done it in about 9 years because I moved to a rural area. Sense the time i last roller bladed and now I had reconstructive foot surgery basically to correct my flat feet, during the recovery I put on lots of weight and never burned it off and over the last 5 years its only gotten worse and now I am very over weight probably about 350 pounds. I want to try to roller blade again but last time I tried (3yrs ago) I couldn't do it anymore the biggest issue being weak ankles. So I am wondering if there are any suggestions on how to make it a little easier on myself at first and if there is any special skates I could try because of being over weight. Also I have very wide feet so being in skates that squish my feet for to long is unbearable. so any suggestions would really help
