For the past few months my one side of my jaw just below my chin on the left side itches. sometimes my chin?

the only thing tha has helped eliminate it completely is prednisone. i am seeing an allergist in 2 weeks, but it seems so strange that it is on one side. it comes and goes and can last awhile or for a few minutes. it happens everyday. i have a cat since nov but when i am near him he doesn't bother me this itching can happen at work, out, or at home. please help! its not shampoo, make up etc....
